Lost Loons

Today, upon the water I paddle.  Ripples appear; my eyes followed.  A young loon surfaced; my eyes followed.  Two loons take flight; the young loon left behind.  Alone.  My eyes view; the ancient rock.  For centuries, upon this ancient rock, a loon nest was built.  This summer water covered the ancient rock.  The two loons, male and female took flight.  Left behind was the young loon.  My eyes view young loon.  Alone.
